Biography James C. Grotting, MD is a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and also the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is in private practice specializing in aesthetic facial, breast and body contouring surgery and breast reconstruction. Dr. Grotting is a member of the board of directors of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and treasurer of the Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation. He is president-elect of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and a member of the prestigious American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery serves as an oral examiner for the ABPS. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Grotting is the editor of a major two volume textbook entitled Reoperative Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery first published by QMP in 1995 with the second edition publishing in 2006. This book has become the major resource for young plastic surgeons preparing for their oral board exams. Dr. Grotting has edited several additional books and contributed dozens of journal articles and chapters to the plastic surgical literature. He has been the medical director for a fellowship in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Birmingham since 1997. He is currently a Traveling Professor for ASAPS and for the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation. Dr. Grotting has long been a volunteer for Operation Smile making numerous trips to under served countries to perform free facial surgery on children afflicted with cleft lip and palate. His son, Jimmy, lives in Hanoi, Vietnam, serving as Asian Missions Coordinator for Operation Smile. His son, Ben, is a member of the University of Wisconsin men's hockey team. Biography Dr. V. Leroy Young trained plastic surgeons at Washington University School of Medicine for 25 years before starting BodyAesthetic Plastic Surgery & Skincare Center, a private practice better able to give patients more personalized care. More recently he founded the BodyAesthetic Research Center to conduct clinical trials designed to improve surgical results. Regarded as a leading plastic surgery researcher in the areas of patient safety, scar improvement, injection lipolysis, breast augmentation, and body contouring, Dr. Young serves on multiple leadership committees of the major plastic surgery professional societies. This includes the Board of Directors of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF), which honored him with a Distinguished Service Award in May 2009. The Florida Society of Plastic Surgeons presented him with a special award "In recognition of, and in appreciation for, his dedication and commitment to improving patient safety through the education of plastic surgeons" in December 2009. Biography Dr. Brian S. Biesman is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery of which he is the immediate past President and the recipient of the 2011 Leon Goldman Award. He is also a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Tennessee Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Medical Association. He is an Honorary Member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. Biography Dr. Nazim Cerkes is a world-renowned surgeon of rhinoplasty and facial aesthetic surgery. He has been invited to several important international congresses as a guest lecturer. Biography Dr. Joe Gryskiewicz is the co-chair for the biannual Hot Topics Meeting and the chairman of the Emerging Trends Committee. He speaks internationally and has given over one hundred presentations to professional organizations on topics such as breast augmentation and nose surgery. Biography Dr. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay has been in practice in Banff since 1983. She has had extensive training in both aesthetic (cosmetic) and reconstructive surgery in both Canada and the United States. Dr. Hall-Findlay completed her plastic surgery residency in San Francisco and New York City. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and she is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Hall-Findlay has built and developed a private surgical facility in her office in Banff and now restricts her practice to cosmetic surgery. She still maintains a teaching and academic focus to her practice. She travels extensively as she is frequently asked to speak and perform surgery for teaching purposes both nationally and internationally. Biography Dr. Constantino G. Mendieta's interest in plastic surgery emerged while observing his uncle -- a plastic surgeon -- reconstruct the disfigured faces of war victims, restoring them to near-normal appearance. Pursuing this ambition, Dr. Mendieta completed a rigorous general surgical residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, then continued his plastic surgery training at the University of Miami, accomplishing specialties in both general surgery and plastic surgery. After completing this training, he furthered his education with a fellowship from Harvard and traveled to Brazil and Paris to perfect his skills. Biography Dr. Andrea L. Pusic is a plastic surgeon specializing in reconstruction after cancer surgery. She has a strong interest in breast reconstruction and is involved in a number of advocacy, outreach, and education initiatives for breast cancer survivors. Dr. Pusic's main research interest lies in assessing health-related quality of life among oncology patients. With grant support from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, she recently developed a new questionnaire, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering BREAST-Q, which measures satisfaction and quality-of-life outcomes among breast reconstruction patients. She is also involved in research to measure patient expectations in breast reconstruction. This research is ultimately aimed at improving patient education and promoting shared medical decision-making. Previously, Dr. Pusic has been involved in research to investigate differences in quality of life among women undergoing mastectomy with and without reconstruction. Additionally, she is currently involved in a long-term study investigating quality of life among women undergoing vaginal reconstruction following resection of pelvic malignancies.

He has been the president of several medical societies including the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Association, the Hand Surgery Society of the Republic of China, and the International Microsurgical Society. In 2001 he was the president of the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. Dr. Wei has given 71 instructional courses and 525 lectures at major international conferences and medical centers in the United States, Canada, Europe and other countries around the world. Dr. Wei has edited eight books, contributed 56 book chapters, and published 444 articles in the field of plastic surgery. He now sits on the editorial board of several journals including the journal of Techniques in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Seminars in Plastic Surgery, Journal of Microsurgery, and Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery. His major research interests include in vivo microcirculatory studies of ischemia-reperfusion injury and composite tissue allo-transplantation where he leads laboratories investigating these subjects.
